Growing Up

Alas, my "easy" baby days are over

Lucas had been army crawling since 6 months old; and started crawling on his hands and knees about 2 weeks ago. As of the end of last week he started to stand up with his hands resting on things i.e. toys etc.

But today I realized I'm very close to having my hands very full. I went into his room to pick him up as he had woken up from his nap and this is what I found...

I can pull myself all the way up and stand!
Next thing I know he's going to be walking and trying to crawl out of his bed. Definitely time for him to graduate to his "real" crib!

First Beach Trip

I recently went to the beach with my Mom, brother Jared and his wife Marissa, and Marissa's family who were visiting from Illinois. Marissa's family hadn't been to Oregon or even the beach before so it was neat to take them to some Oregon fave spots. Tillamook Cheese Factory, Canyon beach and Mo's seafood restaurant to name a few. This was also Lucas's first trip to the beach as well so I got some great pics of him!

Perfectly Posed

Happy boy!

Amazing!

I recently got to see my new nephew who was born on Memorial Day. Looking at him and then seeing Lucas just amazes me. The process of pregnancy and birth is a miracle in itself. But, watching a baby grow from birth is incredible! How quickly they grow physically and mentally. The rapid growth of cells creating and learning is just unfathomable to me.

I can't believe that Lucas will be 7 months old on June 1st! He's babbling up a storm and a crawling speedster! Despite the flabby tummy and stress of a working mom, it's all worth it when he smiles at me!

Fun with solid food!

Although he's been eating solids since about 5 and a half months, Lucas is officially in the solid food stages at 6 months old. So far his favorites are green beans and sweet potato with cinnamon (organic brand has cinnamon in it.) But since this fun stage of discovering new tastes bring out some wonderful faces I thought I would post some to share!

So many carrots so little time

Although my first taste caused this, green beans are my favorite!

Learning to use that tongue!

Yummy goodness

I hope you enjoyed, there will be many to follow as he discovers new things. I just couldn't resist!

Easter Tidings

How wonderful it is that we live in a country where we can freely believe and worship as we please. I am so greatful for the gift that was given through the sacrifices of our Savior Jesus Christ. How amazing and wonderful and loving. I owe everything to him and I try to remember that always not just on Easter. I hope that as time goes on I can share this with my son help him to understand the importance and signifigance.

Baby Time

As time goes by it is hard to keep things in perspective when the baby is screaming and your trying to do the laundry, dishes, clean the house, grocery shop etc. all at once. But I have tried each day to remember that nothing really matters as much as him and when he cries everytime I put him down because he just wants me to hold him I keep in mind he'll only be this little for a very short period of time and it won't be much longer until he'll be squirming to get out of my arms. So I try to savor every moment I have cuddling with him as the dishes overflow the sink and I have no more clean clothes and our fridge is empty, but at least he knows I love him and I can just enjoy this time. Besides when he smiles and laughs at me, how can I really think any of that other stuff is more important?
Lucas is already 2 and half months old!

His smile is so adorable!

Here is his cute blessing outfit made by Grandma

New traditions

Even though my husband and I have known each other almost a total of ten years in which married for 1 and a half, we never really set out to begin our own holiday traditions apart from our childhood. Being now that we have a new addition to the family we have been thinking more as to what we would like to begin doing. This "project" if you will really is a difficult one though. Not that finding stuff to do is hard but just personalities collide. Within the last year or two one of the things I wanted to start was an annual Christmas card/letter. Since we haven't had a family picture yet I decided to dress up the baby in everything Christmas and use him as our photo prop. It was a little of adventure as you can see by the pictures...

But we did end up with a nice one now I just need to figure out the letter part and get it sent out. Hopefully I will be able to follow through. With a newborn finding time to do such things is precious.
Here is the one I chose for the card...
