Baby Time

As time goes by it is hard to keep things in perspective when the baby is screaming and your trying to do the laundry, dishes, clean the house, grocery shop etc. all at once. But I have tried each day to remember that nothing really matters as much as him and when he cries everytime I put him down because he just wants me to hold him I keep in mind he'll only be this little for a very short period of time and it won't be much longer until he'll be squirming to get out of my arms. So I try to savor every moment I have cuddling with him as the dishes overflow the sink and I have no more clean clothes and our fridge is empty, but at least he knows I love him and I can just enjoy this time. Besides when he smiles and laughs at me, how can I really think any of that other stuff is more important?
Lucas is already 2 and half months old!

His smile is so adorable!

Here is his cute blessing outfit made by Grandma

New traditions

Even though my husband and I have known each other almost a total of ten years in which married for 1 and a half, we never really set out to begin our own holiday traditions apart from our childhood. Being now that we have a new addition to the family we have been thinking more as to what we would like to begin doing. This "project" if you will really is a difficult one though. Not that finding stuff to do is hard but just personalities collide. Within the last year or two one of the things I wanted to start was an annual Christmas card/letter. Since we haven't had a family picture yet I decided to dress up the baby in everything Christmas and use him as our photo prop. It was a little of adventure as you can see by the pictures...

But we did end up with a nice one now I just need to figure out the letter part and get it sent out. Hopefully I will be able to follow through. With a newborn finding time to do such things is precious.
Here is the one I chose for the card...

Lucas Quinlen 3 weeks old

Nothings better then a full tummy after a warm bath to drift off into dreamland!

Baby is here!

Ok so much has changed and obviously I'm a horrible blog updater but as time goes on I hope that will improve. Last I mentioned all the drama with my pregnancy and it continued to be just as bad until tada I was induced on November 1st due to preeclampsia. The wednesday night before I had gone into the hospital because my labor had started and after 20 hours of very little progression they sent me home thursday afternoon. On friday Oct. 31st we went back into the hospital because I had pretty high blood pressure among other symptoms of preeclampsia and they needed to monitor me overnight. When saturday morning came, they decided that because the baby was 37 weeks gestation and I was having problems they agreed to induce me and they started the pitocin that afternoon, along with penicillin for group B strep. My labor only progressed from 4cm to 5cm and wasn't really going anywhere so they decided to break my water (which was VERY scary for me I don't know why it just was) Now I hadn't really been feeling contractions at all even after they broke my water they were still somewhat manageable but painful enough that I wasn't really staying relaxed. Problem was, due to my stress of labor my blood pressure shot up to 170/100 which is very bad. (There is risk of siezure with this.) The Doctor at this point said I needed to relax and recommended pain meds which I broke down and agreed to an epidural. (Having an epidural put in with very hard contractions 1 minute a part was horrible) But once in I could relax and my labor progressed from 5cm to 9cm in about and hour. Within a matter of minutes I was ready to push and after another hour he was here! I will never forget when they placed him on my stomach after birth. He was screamin' and just beautiful. It was an amazing experience! Now I have a beautiful baby boy who will be 5 weeks old tomorrow and is growin' like a weed. He is so much fun to cuddle and love but boy he can have a temper when you don't feed him instantly! But he's a lot of fun and looks just like his Daddy!

Baby shower

My wonderful Mom and Sister-n-law threw me an awesome baby shower yesterday. There was a great turnout with great people. Awesome food and fun socializing! I was excited to be there and it definitely turned out great. We are definitely well stocked for this baby and he will be very well-dressed!
So latestin my pregnancy saga is that I'm just under four weeks away and more then ready for this kid to be here. My most recent ultrasound (which is posted) showed this little guy has a big head and long legs which I was pretty much expecting. Big heads run in the family and his daddy is almost 6 foot 4. The latest concern of my doctor is that my previously diagnosed gestational hypertention has switched to preclampsia and so along with that comes more tests. My opinion is the baby is measuring 6lbs 12oz a week ago, I'm measuring at 39 weeks and with all the concern let's skip the tests and just induce. Ok so I know the longer he bakes the better and what not but if these tests show I have preclampsia they are going to induce me anyhow. I'm pretty intune with my body and I really doubt it's preclampsia but I already think my due date was off anyways since it was determined by the size he was at my 8week ultrasound not my LMP or conception date. Due dates are so unrealiable anyways. All I know is I miss being able to sit up straight, sleep on my back/stomach, and oh yeah I want my feet and ankles back!
